Deal with Cat5e/cat6 with Shielded

The Shielded can reduce the surge being absorbed by the twisted pairs cable only if you have grounded the shielded independently. Don’t link the shield to the surge protector.

Add the surge protector on both ends

The cat5e/cat6 cable may absorb the surge and run to both ends. Not only the edge needs a surge protector, but the back-end will also need protection as well.
